TMG was awarded the $6.5 million mechanical upgrades project for the US Postal Service at their Main Post Office (MPO) in Richmond, Virginia.
The project involved the replacement of 18 Air Handling Units (AHUs), demolition of two cooling towers on the roof and two centrifugal chillers in the basement, installation of three new air-cooled chillers on the roof, and replacement of 92 Variable Air Volume (VAV) units.
Each AHU unit was installed in 1969 and had Asbestos Containing Material (ACM) inside, requiring full containment and abatement of every handler.
