This LEED Gold $4.1 million project involved the interior renovation and conversion of a 15,000 SF, three-story commercial office building into an educational facility for children ages 0 to 5. The interior renovations included new classrooms, student and staff restrooms, and office spaces while exterior construction included three new playgrounds with associated landscaping and stormwater mitigation.
Construction provided upgrades to both the building and playground areas including, but not limited to, new HVAC distribution, site demolition, millwork, playground resurfacing and site lighting.
This new facility will accommodate more than 200 students in the Arlington and Fairfax County area. The Head Start program promotes school readiness to low-income children ages 0 to 5. The program enhances social and cognitive development of children through educational, health, nutritional, social and other services.
